Bio:
Judge Davis was appointed as a county judge for Alachua County in 2006 and served in both criminal and civil assignments. Elected as a circuit judge for the Eighth Judicial Circuit in 2008 (re-elected in 2014), He is currently serving a criminal assignment for Alachua, Levy and Gilchrist counties. His previous circuit assignments include Delinquency, Dependency, Family and Civil. Former statewide committees include the Steering Committee for Family & Children in Court for the Florida Supreme Court; Court Interpreter Certification Committee (chair); and the Executive Committee for the Conference of Circuit Judges. Judge Davis is a former prosecutor, special public defender and adjunct law professor at the University of Florida College of Law. He graduated from the University of Florida Law School and earned his B.A. from the University of Arizona. Judge Davis is a former U.S. Army officer who served with the 24th Infantry Division during combat operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm. Judge Davis previously served in law enforcement for over two years as a dispatcher, correctional officer (Hernando and Sumter County Sheriff’s Offices) and later as a police officer with the Leesburg Police Department.
