Bush as a potential nominee for Justice Sandra Day O’connor’s seat\, has served on the federal bench for almost 40 years. She was appointed to the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in 1983\, elevated to the federal District Court in 1985\, and then to the federal Court of Appeals in 1992\, serving as Chief Judge for the Sixth Circuit from 2009 to 2014.
