DESCRIPTION:LOOK OUT BELOW:  Blunders\, Landmines and the Consequences of Poor Attorney Performance in the Preservation of Record Error \nOriginally presented on June 11\, 2021 \nThe Florida Bar President’s Showcase CLE presented by The CLE Committee of The Florida Bar\,  The Florida Bar Appellate Practice Section\, The Florida Bar Criminal Law Section\, and The Florida Bar Trial Lawyers Section \n  \nFriday\, June 11\, 2021\n2:00p-5:00pm\nHilton Bonnett Creek\nThe Florida Bar Annual Convention\nAND Live Webcast \nCourse Number: 4379\nCourse Level: Advanced\nCLE Credit: 3.0 \nWHY WE ARE HERE \nThis CLE is a call to all Florida lawyers\, working cases state and federal\, civil and criminal\, to pay greater attention to the legal\, ethical\, and moral consequences of the failure to properly preserve error in records below. \nFrom the perspective of Justice Labarga\, along with our host of expert presenters — Bar leaders all — our intention is as much to educate on best practices in error preservation (how to avoid the many mistakes and missteps\, common and uncommon\, pretrial\, trial\, and beyond) as it is to infuse in Florida lawyers this universality of spirit: \n\nto rededicate ourselves to this often neglected principle of our practice law;\nan obligation owed to client and cause;\na reflection of public trust;\na fidelity to our profession and ourselves.\n\nPROGRAM \n2:00pm-2:05pm\nWelcome\nScott Fingerhut\, Program Chair and CLE Chair\, Criminal Law Section\nFIU College of Law and H. Donovan\, Board Certified in Appellate Practice\, Chair\, Appellate Practice Section\, Roetzel & Andress\, Naples \n3:30pm-4:10pm\nBetter Error Preservation in Civil Law\nSteven L. Sandridge\, Board Certified in Appellate Practice\, Buchanan Ingersoll-Rooney\, Tampa\nIn this equally dynamic presentation\, our presenters will address the many ways in which errors in civil cases must be better preserved\, and the equally dire consequences to client\, cause\, and our profession when counsel fails in this all-important responsibility. \n4:10pm-4:55pm\nNo Rest for the Weary: A Discussion with Lawyers’ Lawyers on Better Justice through Better Error Preservation\nModerator:\nCeci Culpepper Berman\, Board Certified in Appellate Practice\, Brannock Humphries & Berman\, Tampa\nPanelists:\nGerald B. DESCRIPTION:COVID-19 Attorney Wellness: Part Four \nOriginally aired on December 18\, 2020 \nThe Criminal Law Section of The Florida Bar is privileged to offer this continuing CLE series FREE OF CHARGE to all Criminal Law Section members. \nThis is our continuing gift to ourselves. \nAnd just in time for the holidays. \nWe began in May. Then August. Then October. Florida Lawyers Assistance (FLA) Clinical Director Dr. Scott Weinstein invited us to “fireside chats” on how we (lawyers) are coping\, months (and months and months) into the pandemic\, and the radical restructuring of our lives. \nNow in our fourth installment and joined once again by FLA Assistant Director Molly Paris\, Dr. Weinstein will address the many emotional\, psychological\, and professional issues associated with our well-being during this unprecedented and ongoing challenge. Tackling stressors both anticipated and unexpected\, Dr. Scott and Molly continue to help all of us better develop coping skills unique to ourselves and our profession. \nAs always\, our experts will take questions from attendees. \nAnd note: Like all FLA public presentations\, this CLE is not\, nor is it intended to be\, a confidential\, therapeutic gathering. All Zoom participants will be able to see who is in attendance. That said\, in order to keep our meeting “to ourselves\,” the Criminal Law Section does NOT post the recording of the presentation in any public fashion. \nREGISTER
